non-profit leader Elizabeth Pierce

One of the best ways to really know a person is to learn what they are reading and what they’ve read. It’s always fascinating to find out which books resonate and help people become the person they are today. This is the idea behind our long-running By the Book series. Join us this fall to hear three non-profit leaders who are changing Cincinnati talk about the books that informed them.

Third in the Series:

Elizabeth Pierce, President/ceo Cincinnati Museum Center

Elizabeth Pierce has an earnest passion to fuel curiosity, unleash wonder and celebrate knowledge. As the CEO of Cincinnati Museum Center, she sees limitless potential to evoke a spirit of discovery, creativity and critical thinking for people of all ages.  At the heart of her leadership is a deep understanding of CMC’s impact on the lives of people in this community and across the globe.  She has a healthy fascination with biology and the natural world, an enthusiasm for geography and an appreciation for layers of context revealed by history.

Elizabeth has been a leader in the efforts to secure public support for Union Terminal as it undergoes a massive restoration.  She served as a key staff leader of the 2014 Cultural Facilities Task Force and helped drive the Save Our Icons community engagement campaign in partnership with Music Hall resident companies.  A vital partnership with the National Trust for Historic Preservation was formed under her leadership, creating awareness of the building repair needs well beyond Cincinnati. She successfully guided the sales tax campaign with the support of 62% of Hamilton County voters.

A graduate of Miami University with a Bachelor of Arts in History and The George Washington University with a Masters of Museum Studies/Administration and American Studies, Elizabeth is a lifelong learner. She and her husband Brad have two children and embrace the city’s diversity and cultural opportunities with great enthusiasm.
