Please join us Wednesday, October 30th, as we introduce the new Mercantile Library bow tie, created in conjunction with BowTie Cause. The evening will culminate in a bow tie tying competition. Note that contest participants tying one of our new ties will be given special consideration during judging. The prize is a free ticket to next year’s Niehoff Lecture.
The tie is emblazoned with the names of notable speakers brought to the city by the Mercantile during its rich 178-year history as the literary center of the region.
Bow Tie Cause was founded by former Cincinnati Bengal Dhani Jones after a close friend was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, in order to help raise awareness of the disease. Since then, Bow Tie Cause has worked with over 50 non-profits to create distinctive bow ties, which are sold for $57 – Jones’s NFL jersey number – to benefit the organization.
Ties will be available for purchase at the event.
