About Molly Wellmann
Seventh generation Cincinnatian Molly Wellmann is the kind of girl who needs to know where everything comes from. Anytime she was curious about anything, her mom would reply, “find out for yourself”…so she did, and still does. She continually studies (often at The Mercantile Library) the history and proper preparation of classic cocktails—as well as the histories of the people who made them.
After a stint in San Francisco at the cusp of the craft cocktail movement, she returned to her beloved hometown and began sharing her new and innovative drinks based on the classics—all containing her housemade simple syrups, bitters, liquors, and fresh juices.
As the co-owner of Wellmann’s Brands, (Japp’s, Myrtle’s Punch House, Melt Northside, Melt at the CAC, and Old Kentucky Bourbon Bar), Molly can frequently be found behind the bar at any one of her establishments, serving up a delicious drink–and usually the story behind it.
She is the author of the book Handcrafted Cocktails, and lives in the Fairview neighborhood of Cincinnati. Her favorite liquor is bourbon, and her favorite cocktail is a Manhattan.
